Over the next 5 months we are focusing on themes relating to the Vision of our church. For the month of June we will be looking at the first section of that Vision statement, “to REACH people with the love of God”
Jesus last commandment was the Great Commission, to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. “ (Mat 28:19-20)
It is not an optional request but Jesus’ last command to us. Eternity Church exists to reach the Lost. Yes, we have great services and fantastic ministry programs; but unless what we do here in Morwell impacts the local community, then we are not doing what the Lord has asked.
Let’s make a difference, let’s REACH out to those around us with God’s love and Good News!
We live in very interesting times, a time when life is uncertain and the world is changing at such a rapid pace. It’s hard to know what will happen from week to week; terrorist attacks, financial collapse of nations, threats of nuclear war; the list goes on and on.
It has been often quoted, ”We don’t know what the future holds, but we know who holds the future.” We can be certain of one thing throughout the uncertainty of this life.
His Word tell us that “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together” (Col 1:15-17)
God is still on the throne, He is still in charge and He knows the future! He is unchanging in His love for us and His promises for us. Lets continue to put our trust and hope in the Lord!
Easter time is the time we remember what the Lord has done for us. It is central to the Christian faith. Without the Cross we have nothing. Without forgiveness we have nothing! Without His power over sin and death, we have nothing!
When Jesus took our sins upon that cross he did a complete work for you, and for me! We can add nothing to that work, or take anything away. It is a complete work. It is finished!
There is nothing we can do to earn favour with God or to earn our salvation. All we can do is seek His forgiveness, receive His redemptive love and every day pick up our own cross and follow Him.
Paul writes in Phil 3, “I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do:
Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. ”
As we continue to push on into this New Season God has given us, it is a reminder that in straining ahead, we should forget what is behind. Sometimes it is the things that have happened in our past, that can prevent us from moving forward.
What’s holding you back from doing God’s will? What is tripping you up, causing you to stumble?
God has called us to press on heavenward. Are you ready to do the hard work, to strain, to run your race, to make an effort? Let’s do His will
together and see this Church rise up to the
As I spoke with everyone last week, we have experienced a drop in giving and an increase in expenses over the last year.
I thank God that He has provided a debt-free building which is now purpose built and practical for great ministry! It has been through the generosity of many people over the 46 years that this church has been established, that we now have this great building. But more importantly a place we can launch ministry into our local community.
I am encouraged by Paul’s words to the Corinthian church, “In the midst of a very severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. “ (2 Cor 8:2)
I’m sure we all want to see this Church continue to be a shining light in these dark times we find ourselves. Like all of us we need money to pay for gas, electricity, insurances, telephone, cleaning and the list goes on. The Church is no different. Let’s have a spirit of generosity to not only help keep the church running but be an overflowing of blessing into the community!
