The most famous sermon ever preached was not in a large church or by an eloquent evangelist. It was shared on a hillside amongst ordinary people by an extraordinary person—Jesus Christ’s Sermon on the Mount. (You can read about it in Matthew 5.)
One of the exhortations to His followers that day was to become the Salt and Light of this world. (v13-16) Salt preserves food and adds taste. Light shines in the darkness and helps us to see clearly.
We are called to make a difference in this world; in our community, in our family, in our jobs and even in our church!
What if our ‘salt’ loses it’s saltiness or we hide our ‘light’? Then it becomes useless for God’s purposes. Jesus wants “your light to shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
What a wonderful privilege we have!
